Sheffield Wednesday Football Club would like to express sincere condolences to the family of Motherwell captain, Phil O'Donnell, who tragically died after collapsing in his side's 5-3 win over Dundee United on Saturday. O'Donnell, was at Sheffield Wednesday as a player from 1999 to 2005 having signed from Celtic, having joined the Glasgow club for a £1.75m fee five years earlier. He returned to his first professional club, Motherwell, four years ago on a free transfer.
Everyone at Sheffield Wednesday would like to express our sympathies to those who knew Phil O'Donnell. Our thoughts are with his family at this very sad time.
