Quote from Sheffield Wednesday FC

Sheffield Wednesday Football Club would like to express sincere condolences to the family of Motherwell captain, Phil O'Donnell, who tragically died after collapsing in his side's 5-3 win over Dundee United on Saturday.

O'Donnell, was at Sheffield Wednesday as a player from 1999 to 2005 having signed from Celtic, having joined the Glasgow club for a £1.75m fee five years earlier. He returned to his first professional club, Motherwell, four years ago on a free transfer.

Everyone at Sheffield Wednesday would like to express our sympathies to those who knew Phil O'Donnell. Our thoughts are with his family at this very sad time.
